Recently launched at imm Cologne, we are in love with these smart wooden containers by industrial designer Eric Degenhardt for German brand Böwer. Finely crafted from turned ash, the rim of each container is partially cut away to create a handy letterbox-shaped opening for removing the lid.

Kilt Light cabinet by Claesson Koivisto Rune

Sadly we didn’t make it to this year’s edition of the wonderful Stockholm Furniture Fair but we did manage to keep an eye on what was happening via trusty design bible Disegno.

One stand in particular that caught our eye was that of Swedish brand Asplund, who launched a new collection designed around the theme of ‘Sense of Space’.

G-force cyclonic vacuum cleaner, (1986) by James Dyson

An icon of 20th century design, Dyson‘s cyclone vacuum cleaners are used in homes across the globe. Despite the brilliance of his idea, back in 1986, James Dyson was unable to find support for his invention in the UK. Instead his very first design for a bagless vacuum cleaner was launched onto the market in Japan, where its high-tech form, striking colors and groundbreaking cyclone feature made it a huge success. Originally designed in 2011 by Lausanne-based designer Tomas Kral, the Terracotta pendant and table lamps have been put into production by Spanish design brand PCM.  The lamps are manufactured in the Extremadura region of Spain, an area known for its traditional terracotta jugs.
