Color stained stoneware bowls by Ladies & Gentlemen Studio

This week saw the New York Gift Fair descend on New York City for the second time this year. One of our favourite booths belonged to JOIN – a group of ten independent West Coast-based studios who join together to collectively show their new home goods and personal accessories. Jean and I saw these mirrors by Spanish studio Mut Design Studio at the Salone Satellite in Milan earlier this year. Their pretty ombre colors and clever design made them one of the stand-out pieces from the show. Called Zig Zag, the mirrors are composed of lengths of mirror of varying thicknesses that are mounted onto coloured strips of wood and arranged at 45 degree angles. Read the rest of this entry »

What better time for hip New York-based concept fashion store Opening Ceremony to open up a pop-up shop in London than last weekend? For their first retail store in Europe, Opening Ceremony chose to collaborate with British furniture designer Faye Toogood who created a number of bespoke pieces to complement the shop’s architecturally deconstructed interior.
