G-force cyclonic vacuum cleaner, (1986) by James Dyson

An icon of 20th century design, Dyson‘s cyclone vacuum cleaners are used in homes across the globe. Despite the brilliance of his idea, back in 1986, James Dyson was unable to find support for his invention in the UK. Instead his very first design for a bagless vacuum cleaner was launched onto the market in Japan, where its high-tech form, striking colors and groundbreaking cyclone feature made it a huge success. Painted wood bowls by Nicole Porter

Our friend Jen tipped me off to these gorgeous painted bowls by Nicole Porter at NYIGF. The New York City designer has a knack for color and proportion, hand painting each wood plate and bowl with non-toxic paints with zero VOCs and protected by a food safe film. No two of these bowls are alike and I think these would look great with a Nic Webb spoon.
