Ceremony tea set
Claesson Koivisto Rune
Swedish designers Mårten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune, known collectively as studio Claesson Koivisto Rune, have designed a beautiful little tea set for Toronto-based store Mjölk (meaning milk in Swedish and pronounced ‘Mi-yelk’). The tea set is designed as a merging of eastern and western tea and coffee cultures – a sort of Japanese tea ceremony meets Swedish Fika (a coffee and cake break).
A chopping board made in Canadian maple is lined on one side with a plate of bass, copper or blackened steel, which forms a serving tray for hot tea. The set also includes a ceramic milk jug with a wooden lid that doubles as a sugar bowl or a container for sweets.
The design was showcased as part of a wider exhibition, called Claesson Koivisto Rune + Mjölk, that was held last month during Toronto Design Week.
