Katharine Watson‘s vibrant block prints caught our eye last year at the National Stationery Show. Intricate detail and rustic beauty made the Washington DC-based designer’s work stand out to us. Each of her blocks are carved by hand and inspired by a wide range of textiles. She believes that the most important aspect of her work is keeping the tradition of hand printed textiles alive in a way that is both beautiful and accessible.

I’ve often wondered who creates the cheerful little illustrations in Monocle magazine and it would appear that Madrid-based Blanca Gomez is one of their go-to illustrators. I came across her work on etsy this week via her shop Cosas Mínimas, which means tiny things in Spanish. She has a great skill for capturing the character of people and places – her Paris, New York, Helsinki and London city prints are my favourite.

Pleased To Meet

I met German brand Pleased To Meet at the Paperworld trade show/stationery heaven earlier this year. The studio is run by Berlin based duo Daniela and Marcel – Daniela is the designer who creates the brand’s wonderfully whimsical illustrations.
