My old employers over at London based design shop SCP have just introduced some beautiful new lotions and potions from a brand called Blodwen. Based in Cardigan Bay in Wales, Blodwen champion the use of natural ingredients, local craftsmanship and the revival and preservation of traditional Welsh skills.

All of the ingredients are carefully selected and the processes are in keeping with tradition – the Wild Rose skincare range uses just-opened rose petalsĀ from a hillside farm in Cilcennin that are distilled in darkness for 6 months to extract their potent oils.

Whynot

Swedish design duo Whynot really stood out for me in the young designers hall at Stockholm Furniture Fair for their alternatve, slightly gothic print and pattern designs. In a sea of Scandinavian light woods and minimal lines, Sandra Wall and Lina Frisk exhibited furniture and wallpaper with folkloric, handpainted illustrations that wouldn’t look out of place on a British narrow boat (in a good way). One exhibitor that we always enjoy seeing during trade show season is Ferm Living, a Danish brand who always present a beautifully put together collection of accessories, textiles and wallpapers with bold, graphic designs.

Shown here is the neatly styled imagery of their new spring summer 2012 range that features a bright and summery grey and rose colour palette, mixed with light, Scandinavian wood. Enjoy!

On a recent trip to a European flooring show, luxury rug designer Jan Kath‘s stand was a breath of fresh air. Jan is probably one of the only rug designers who is as well known as the rugs that he designs. Last year he opened stores in New York and Berlin, and won the Wallpaper* Design Award for best rug at their prestigious annual awards show.
