Who would have thought that such artistic imagery could be captured at abandoned amusement parks? Eerily still and quietly sad, there is something quite sinister about these forgotten parks – or perhaps that’s the just the effect of the chosen soundtracks? Below is Wonderland by British photogrpaher Catherine Hyland who discovered this abandoned theme park on the fringes of Beijing’s urban sprawl. Wonderland was intended to be the largest amusement park in Asia when building began in 1998, however the project was scrapped after funding was withdrawn and the developers and the local farmers could not come to terms over ownership of the land.
