Whynot
Swedish design duo Whynot really stood out for me in the young designers hall at Stockholm Furniture Fair for their alternatve, slightly gothic print and pattern designs. In a sea of Scandinavian light woods and minimal lines, Sandra Wall and Lina Frisk exhibited furniture and wallpaper with folkloric, handpainted illustrations that wouldn’t look out of place on a British narrow boat (in a good way).
Bright, swirling florals on black backgrounds adorn their Alma chair and Ki wallpaper print, while Plockeblom (a marvelous word) is a lighter print that resembles vintage, hand pressed flowers.
Bord#1 is a coffee table made from angular tiles of vaarious materials that have been slotted into a criss cross steel frame to create graphic triangles of pattern and colour.
