ECAL graduate Julie Richoz has made a series of containers made out of flat sheets of cut spring steel. The collection comprises a plate, a fruit bowl and a bread basket, all made using a process inspired by crochet and knitting.

The metal is chemically treated allowing it to be cut with great precision to produce fine patterns. The flat sheet of cut metal is then pulled into shape with the help of a metal wire to create curved, irregular forms.

Richoz exhibited the collection alongside her other works at the seventh annual Design Parade - a contest for young designers held at the Villa Noailles in Hyères, France - where she won first prize.
