Exhibiting in the halls of Maison & Objet this year was Japan Handmade - a collaboration between six craft based companies from Kyoto and Danish design company OeO, evolving traditional crafts techniques to create new design objects. These beautiful copper and brass trays, containers and tea set by Japanese brand Kaikado were among the presented objects.
All handmade by dedicated artisan craftspeople in Kyoto, the brass and copper used to make Kaikado’s collection for Japan Handmade will weather gracefully with age, creating new family heirlooms.
You may remember our previous post on Kaikado’s tea caddies which we fell in love with last year at ICFF.
Japan Handmade aims to bring the beauty and poetry of the Japanese design aesthetic to a global audience and a new generation, securing its future.
