I have a bit of a thing for African fabrics. There is a stack that sits in the corner of my room waiting for me to do something creative with them. The plan is that I will one day buy a sewing machine and skillfully whip up a few cushions for my flat. This of course has not happened yet, but it will. I was reminded of this neglected craft project today when I visited a show called The African and African-Caribbean Design Diaspora, which is currently showing at the Oxo Tower for London Design Festival. There were all kinds of amazing African fabrics and prints on show but these designs by Emamoke Ukeleghe really caught my eye.

Emamoke Ukeleghe, is a London based Textile Designer whose exhibited work fused modern, screen printed imagery with traditional Dutch wax fabrics to create an interesting mix of cultural references and messages. Emamoke says her designs are inspired by her Nigerian heritage, religion, family and friends, print and pattern, people and everyday life.
