Inspired by Norway’s traditional national dress, Norwegian designer Andreas Engesvik has created a series of pure wool blankets that feature colourful chevron stripes.

The folk costumes on which the designs are based are called bunads and are traditionally worn by both men and women on the Norwegian national holiday. Developed in co-operation with Norwegian textile producers Mandal Veveri, Engesvik’s vibrant designs are based on simplified bunad motifs from five different regions in Norway; Setesdal, Nordland, Fusa, Bringeklut from West Telemark, and a men’s Bunad from Sunnmøre.

Owned by Stina Skeie Mandal Veveri, is a 100 year old textile company that is the leading producer of textiles for bunads in Norway.

The Bunad blankets were one of our favourite finds from the 100% Norway exhibition at London Design Festival last month and will be available to buy from November 2012.
