These unusual, sculptural vases by Kobe Design University student Nobu Miake are designed specifically for displaying dried flowers.
Simply made from brass, wood, a leather strap, and rubber bands, the vases hang the flowers upside down so that they retain their form and colour as they dry out, creating a permanent display.
The project was exhibited at the SaloneSatellite during Milan Design Week as part of a wider project called Design Soil by Kobe Design University. The name refers to the University’s approach to design education ‘we have attempted to create a space which lets young designers think and create things one by one, slowly yet steadily like plants growing in soil’
