Last week, Lin Morris took a trip to Spoga+Gafa in Cologne to take a look at the latest garden and outdoor product launches. In amongst the lawn mowers and dry ice water features, we came across a rather lovely new Danish furniture brand called With A View. Launched at the show, WAV’s products are designed by Christina Liljenberg Halstrøm and aimed at young, urban consumers.

The furniture is made in Scandinavian timbers, such as oak, ash and pine, and designed according to classic Scandinavian design principles but with a modern, no frills aesthetic. The brand’s first launches, the Beddo daybed and the Cover Up chair, can be used outside in the summer and brought indoors when it starts to get chilly.

Beddo’s frame is made of oak and is topped with a loose mattress that is easy to put on and take off. It also comes with a quilt that’s filled with Kapok, a natural material which cannot absorb water. The fabric cover is made from 100% woven technical polyester, which is resistant to mildew. It can be outside in all weathers and is made using electro welding, a technique whereby the foam and fabric are fusecd together and the filling is encased within the cover.

The brand is run by the owners of Danish outdoor furniture brand Skagerak who saw a gap in the market for a contemporary outdoor furniture range. The products are all produced in EU and will be available to buy from March 2013.
