Jean and I saw these mirrors by Spanish studio Mut Design Studio at the Salone Satellite in Milan earlier this year. Their pretty ombre colors and clever design made them one of the stand-out pieces from the show. Called Zig Zag, the mirrors are composed of lengths of mirror of varying thicknesses that are mounted onto coloured strips of wood and arranged at 45 degree angles. Read the rest of this entry »

Relation sofa by Hiroomi Tahara

Jean and I saw the work of Milan-based Japanese designer Hirromi Tahara for the first time at the Salone Satellite this year in Milan and loved his new take on traditional rattan furniture. Called Relation, this sofa is currently in production with Japanese manufacturers Yamakawa Rattan. We also love the colour blocked cushions which add a welcome injection of colour. Plissee sideboard by Anne Boenisch

This year’s trade shows have been packed full with ombre effects and saturated colour, and we thought this sideboard by Berlin based designer Anne Boenisch combined the two very nicely indeed. The polyester plissé fabric that forms the doors, slides open through a brass rod set inside the oiled oak wood frame.
