Elementare by Studio Lievito

We have seen plenty of examples of geometric-themed designs across the trade shows this year and this wooden chopping board and tool set by Florence-based design collective Studio Lievito, was one of our favourites. Called Elementare, the set is made up of a wooden chopping board and four marble chopping tools which nest neatly into the board. The sphere crumbles the spices, the cylinder rolls out the dough and tenderizes the meat, the cube scales fish, and the prism chops the vegetables. Read the rest of this entry »

This series of sculpted kitchen utensils by Axel Delbrayere are made from finely sanded hornbeam. The smooth fluid forms provide an egg cup, a chopping board and a mortar and pestle.

We saw this rather sturdy looking cutlery set by Studio Hausen at the DMY Berlin Instant Stories exhibition during Milan Design Week last month. Made from steel tubing, the clean and robust forms of the Goliath cutlery are simply cut and pressed into shape. This very straight forward manufacturing process means that no additional expensive tools or procedures like welding, sanding or polishing are needed. Smart, simple and functional.
