British designer Sue Pryke began her career in the Potteries over 20 years ago as a designer at Wedgewood and has since developed homeware collections for IKEA, John Lewis and M&S. In September she launched her own line of tableware, which is all made in collaboration with small factories and makers across the UK.

These playful vase prototypes were designed by Italian designer Matteo Zorzenoni and made in collaboration with skilled craftsmen Pietro Viero and Sartori Marmi. The Crystal ball vases are made from borosilicate glass and marble. Read the rest of this entry »

Introducing Eleanor Bolton

Eleanor Bolton is a British accessory designer who recently graduated with an MA from the RCA in London. While studying, she developed a unique craft technique, coiling and hand stitching cotton rope to create both large and small-scale, lightweight, tactile structures that possess sculptural qualities. Bound mirrors by Grain

I spotted these Bound mirrors by Seattle based studio Grain at ICFF back in May. I love how they mix simplicity with intricate craft. Their bound twine edges remind me a lot of the multicoloured African jewelry made from vinyl disc beads. However, despite their African aesthetic, the mirrors are made a little closer to Grain’s home in the Pacific Northwest of the USA from renewable materials including bamboo, wool felt and hemp twine.
