As a tea drinker myself, I am glad to see a new speciality store that’s giving tea the same artisanal treatment that coffee seems to have been enjoying in recent years. The newly opened P & T store in Berlin (standing for Paper and Tea) is a veritable paradise for tea connoisseurs. Not only does the store sell a wide selection of speciality teas and brewing tools, but they also stock a carefully chosen selection of paper goods too.

Next month Australian homewares distributor Maxwell & Williams will launch a collection of asymmetric ceramics called Parts by Berlin based designers ett la benn. Made up of 19 pieces, the off-kilter shapes were inspired by the designer’s popular ‘Kami‘ collection made from 100% biodegradable cellulose which they introduced last year.
I met German brand Pleased To Meet at the Paperworld trade show/stationery heaven earlier this year. The studio is run by Berlin based duo Daniela and Marcel - Daniela is the designer who creates the brand’s wonderfully whimsical illustrations.

Yesterday I made a visit to a small but perfectly formed exhibition of Spanish Design curated by Wallpaper* magazine and was particularly taken with the work of Apparatu, a Berlin based ceramic studio run by Spanish potter Xavier Mañosa. Born into a family of Potters, Xavier creates ceramics full of character, colour and a tactile, chalky texture. Apparatu is a family business headed up by Xavier who works with his parents on production in Sant Cugat near Barcelona and runs the offices from Berlin. Read the rest of this entry »
