Farnsworth House by Mies van der Rohe_10

I came across Ludwig Mies van der Rohes’s Farnsworth House in this month’s issue of Elle Decoration. Based in Plano Illionois, the house was built between 1946-1951 as a retreat for professor of medicine, Dr Edith Farnsworth. These photos were taken by Dayna Bateman. Read the rest of this entry »

Multicoloured concertinas of steel! German photographer Nick Frank has captured these magical images of the Mira Munchen Nordheide shopping center in Munich, Germany. Completed in 2008 by Chapman Taylor, the design features a zig-zag steel facade that changes colour depending on the viewing angle.

el B Auditorium Convention Center by Selgascano Architects 2012 © Iwan Baan

Completed this year, the el B auditorium by Madrid-based architecture firm Selgascano is definitely on our list of buildings to visit. Using an stunning colour palette of subtle pastels with bright accents of canary yellow and orange, the auditorium and performance space lines 1 kilometer of the docks of the harbour in Cartagena, Spain. Elqui Domos, Chile

If it’s a room with a view that you want, then these cabin rooms at the Elqui Domos eco-resort in Chile should do nicely. Introduced as part of the resort’s recent overhaul by Santiago-based architect Rodrigo Duque Motta of RDM Arquitectura, the four cabins recreate the feel of lying beneath the stars.
