I saw these pictures on the beautiful Japanese blog oeuvre, and had to do some digging. Studio Prepa is a Japanese glass studio founded by designer Katsuhisa Hira and his wife Mizuho. Hira uses a glassblowing technique that was originated in Sweden and Italy, but operates in the mountainous Nagano, Japan, where the 700 meters altitude helps keep the glass making inferno at a tolerable temperature.
Each Studio Prepa piece is idealized and special. Says Hira, “Sometimes it takes more than 5 years to realize an idea after drawing. Glassblowing has a mystery that wouldn’t be revealed even after a whole life of studying.”
