I love the combination of materials used to make this writing desk by Dutch collective De Intuïtiefabriek. Launched this month at PAD New York by Gallery Priveekollektie, the Scrinium writing desk is made from a beautiful combination of walnut, powder coated steel, copper plated steel and leather.

Scrinium is the first furniture piece from De Intuïtiefabriek’s new series called Virtu. The Virtu collection takes inspiration from their previous collection, Excavation; a unique collection of treasures, inspired by archeological excavations. With Virtu, the designers have set out to provide a series of furniture pieces, in which users can display their own collections.

The Scrinium, named after a cylindrical container used in ancient Rome to hold papyrus rolls, functions as a writing desk, a display cabinet and storage.
