It’s a case of the more unusual the better when it comes to selecting materials to work with for Brazillian designer Rodrigo Almeida. His hybrid pieces are made from a diverse range of upcycled objects from nylon rope to wicker baskets. For Almeida, the layers of bright colour and texture represent the diverse cultures to be found in São Paulo where he is based. The Africa chair, shown above, was designed to represent Afro-Brazillian culture - a mix of African, Indigenous Brazilian and Paulista aesthetics.
