Model 2129, Gino Sarfatti 1969

These five elegant lighting designs by legendary Italian designer Gino Sarfatti were all designed between 1951 and 1971 but could all easily pass as pieces that were launched for the first time this year - a testament to Sarfatti’s talent.

As captivating now as they were then, the designs have all been brought back to life as part of a collection called Edition No. 1 by Italian brand Flos that was introduced earlier this year.

The lamps were originally created by Sarfatti for Arteluce - the company he founded in 1939 and sold to Flos in 1973.

The 2013 incarnations have all, of course, been painstakingly updated to accommodate new LED technology while retaining the perfect poise of the original designs.
