Mongolia
This link came across our desks today, and I love it. Not only do I love the look and concept of this video, but generally Mongolia and its people have always fascinated me. I think they are gorgeous in a supremely un-calculated way. The Mongolian style of dress and decoration is an enchanting mix of rustic and romantic, utilitarian and ornate. To me, Mongol people and their culture are among the most beautiful in the world.
My infatuation with the Mongol people began with the book Fashion by Cathy Newman. In the National Geographic book that beautifully portrays how people in all corners of the world dress, I was enthralled by the Mongolian nomads and their over-sized wrap cloaks. As a fashion student at Parsons, in my mind nothing was cooler. I’ve rounded up a few images that encapsulate the aesthetic that I have quietly admired for years. Vivid colors, simplistically beautiful living, purposefully determined glances, and pretty much the best outfits ever.
