Occupying the space somewhere between design and art, Israeli studio, Naama Hofman, create sculptural, limited edition lighting designs that are made by skilled craftsmen in Tel Aviv-Jaffa.
Favouring clean, minimal silhouettes, Hofman’s sleek designs are all lit by ultra-thin LEDs. Below is a selection of the studio’s works.
An acrylic rod embedded with LEDs is held in place by a three-legged metal structure. Called 002, the lamp can be positioned, horizontally or vertically.
006 is a light object made from two trapezoid-shaped pieces of glass and perspex that are positioned at 180° angles to each other. The design is back-lit by a thin LED strip and can be hung from or leant up against a wall.
001 is made from a bent metal rod and a strip of acrylic pipe embedded with approximately 120 LEDs that provide an ambient, even glow. The versatile design, which can be produced in any colour, can be placed on a table or hung from the wall.
A circular hole in a solid block of marble is lit by a ring of LEDs to create an sculptural table lamp design called the 008.
Light Object 004 is a modular lamp that can be used individually or joined together to create 2D or 3D geometric configurations. Each component features an acrylic tube lined with 120 LEDs and connected to a bent iron pipe.
Although made using the same basic materials - brass, glass panels and acrylic tubes lined with 190 energy saving LEDs - each lamp in the 005 Collection has a different composition. In each design, the acrylic tube crosses and divides the glass in a different manner to create four unique lamps.
