Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair 2012
This small collection of lighting designs by young Norwegian designer Kristine Five Melvær is currently showing at Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair. The designs called Ray, Sunday and Light Jars, explore how objects can create an emotional bond between object and user.
The Light Jars, made in hand-turned oak and mouth-blown glass, double as display cases for beloved objects and trinkets.
The Sunday lamps are inspired by gently glowing candles used during long Sunday breakfasts in Norway.
The Ray lamps are made with a welded steel cord structure and an elastic textile coating and are designed to resemble the sun through a warm, misty sky. Available in two different sizes, both Ray lamps mimic the stereotypical lamp shape.
Kristine is currently studying Visual Communication at Oslo National Academy of the Arts and also has degrees in industrial design and graphic design.
