Soft Fold Cabane, a collaboration of Marie Dessuant and Margaux Keller for Fabrica, is a temporary space consisting of duvets, a reading table, a low bench and a lamp. It reminds me of the forts my brothers and I used to make out of sofa cushions, and is designed to invite users to take time out of their day. The piece is on exhibit at Next Cabane exhibition through June 10, 2012, at the MUDAM Luxembourg museum.

Made from a foldable wooden structure that was found in a corner of an antique market in the north of Scotland, the origin of this structure is unknown, but the designers guess that it was the frame of a canvas fishing tent. Fabrica’s designers were inspired to revive the structure, examining its particular qualities and re-interpreting them for contemporary contexts. Essentially the structure is a movable room that can be carried from place to place. Next Cabane is about exploring the potential of this idea.
