During a particularly low point at the end of London Design Festival last month, when I felt as if I would actually throw up if I had to do one more aisle of the exhibition hall, I saw an oasis in the desert. This link came across our desks today, and I love it. Not only do I love the look and concept of this video, but generally Mongolia and its people have always fascinated me. I think they are gorgeous in a supremely un-calculated way. The Mongolian style of dress and decoration is an enchanting mix of rustic and romantic, utilitarian and ornate. I have to admit that over-romanticized portrayals of New York City annoy me. Living here is not the urban paradise of shimmering lights and long exposure photos that flood popular culture. It can be as mundane as the next town. Sub City New York by Sarah Klein and Tom Mason is different because it captures a scene every New Yorker has experienced, and reminds us of the unique beauty that exists in our everyday. Even the most jaded New Yorker can’t deny it. Or so she tells me.
