Belgian designer Sylvain Willenz has designed a range of rugs called Folk that were launched at Maison&Objet last week. Here at Lin Morris we love neatly organised geometric forms, so these designs instantly caught our eye on the stand of French brand Chevalier édition. The Folk rugs are handknotted in 100% wool and available in three colourways - Light, Dark and Bright.
Danish brand HAY are set to launch their 2012 collection at Parisian trade show Maison&Objet this week. HAY have been around since 2002 but had a fantastic year in 2011 with their multi-award winning Minimal textile collection by Dutch designers Scholten & Baijings.
It would seem they are onto a winning streak as the 2012 collection is looking equally as good and includes new furniture, lighting, textiles, and accessories.
Refractive Monolith by Lee Baker was showcased at the Spectra 1 exhibit presented by Future Tense in London this month. The colourful installation used about ten thousand metres of acrylic yarn. Depending on the angle and perspective, the piece provides endless depth and transforms from uniform and geometric to tangled and chaotic.

Soot is an essential element for life and, at the same time, one of the main causes of the greenhouse effect. Fascinated by this powerful material, Dutch designer Jetske Visser set about creating a range of textiles that could put this waste material to use in a positive way. By collecting the layers of soot created by burning oil inside a lamp, Visser was able to use it as a pigment with which to dye fabric. The result is a series of textiles called Roet (Meaning soot in Dutch). The intensity of the colour is determined by the number of hours the lamp burns and the strength of the fixative used.
