You couldn’t imagine a more picture perfect example of rural England than the gardens and pottery workshop at Whichford in Warwickshire. Established in 1976 by Jim and Dominique Keeling, Whichford Pottery is a family run business that employs and trains highly-skilled local craftsmen to make a wide range of terracotta flower pots.
By using the finest frost-proof clay and adopting the skills and techniques which have been handed down through generations, Jim Keeling and his team want to keep English pottery traditions alive. They are passionate about their craft and run an apprenticeship scheme to ensure that these ancient skills are passed down to the next generation.
If you should ever find yourself at the edge of the Cotswold hills, I would highly recommend a visit. The pottery, gardens and Octagon shop are open every day of the week and you can see ‘throwing’ on the wheel on Monday to Thursday.
