These paintings by Brooklyn based artist and writer Shane McAdams may look like they are created using a rainbow of watercolours but in actual fact they are created using the humble ball point pen.

Shane’s work explores the physical properties inherent within specific, mundane materials such as Elmer’s glue, correction fluid, ballpoint pen ink and resin. He pushes the materials to their limits by subjecting them to non-traditional applications to generate complex structures.

I love how black ink reveals itself to be the most colourful colour of all as it’s drawn out and broken down into a beautiful rainbow.
